Nedelcho was born on the 25th of August 1930 in the village of Stryama, near Plovdiv. He graduated high school in Plovdiv and then moved on to receive a dual degree in Painting and Scenography from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia. In 1957 he also gained a degree in "Painting for Cinema" from the Moscow Institute of Cinematography. Post-graduation he worked as a painter-cinematographer in Bulgaria. He worked on notable movies in Bulgarian cinematography, such as "Favorite-13", "The Peach Thief", "Be Happy, Annie", "The First Courier", "Ivan Shishman" and others. He took part in more than 52 documentaries and 48 artistic films as a director and cameraman. Between 1971 and 1974 Nedelcho taught at the Academy of Arts, and later also taught in Algeria, where he was selected as an Honorable Member of the Union of Algerian Artists. He has taken part in many local and international exhibitions, including such in France, Poland, Algeria, Mongolia, Nigeria, Germany, and Russia. He passed away in 2013.
Nedelcho Nanev worked with realistic and classical paintings, leaving behind a plethora of landscapes and portraits.
